A Piece Of Cake

Will Rogers, a famous American humorist of the 20th Century, noted he only knew what he read in the newspapers. Well, today we have the Internet and bathroom graffiti.

And newspapers, from what we read, despite their mostly unprofitable ventures into the Internet world, are a declining breed, as is perhaps traditional television. And just as perhaps someone needs to tell that to those conservative, non-inclusive Republicans at the WSJ. Just today one wrote this pipe dream: "Despite the hostility between Paul Ryan and Mr.Trump, it is just possible to see how small government conservatives and populist conservatives might make common sense."

The author is talking about the disintegration of his party, "The Three-Headed GOP After Trump."

First off, someone needs to tell this writer there is no such thing as a populist conservative. The term itself is a pejorative, a creation of MSM to label those who clearly see the world differently. It's what those who feel threatened do, assign epithets to any and all who disagree. Some call it damage control, others taking the offensive. Then this writer, himself Jewish, has the nerve to label the Trump movement "ethnonationalism that has disfigured the Trump campaign and repelled so many Americans." And we thought it was his incessant groping.

Apparently this person doesn't read his own newspaper. A recent story noted how many of the Middle East immigrants coming to not just the U.S. but elsewhere were Christians. The answer is almost none. Are there any Christians in those war torn areas suffering the displacement just as much, you bet. But the current administration decides not just the numbers but the makeup. If it were otherwise they would be forced to admit publicly their incompetence and that the program is--as most already suspect anyway--completely out of control.

This is a premeditated act. Sure, the numbers of Christians in those areas are far fewer, but suffering, displaced people are suffering, displaced people. And on that subject of incompetence, another recent article that this writer apparently missed is how many of these immigrants with active TB wound up in a small western town.

The author concludes his article discussing pleasant surprises and how they are always possible, here referencing Hillary's "unsuspected gift for political leadership that can somehow give the GOP a stake in her success." Hillary has a gift alright, but it's not in political leadership. It's in political criminality. Meanwhile, one can hope another really pleasant surprises is those stodgy, gutless, bellyaching conservatives at the Journal and other places wind up with a piece of Marie's cake.
